Psycho

The movie Psycho was released in 1960 and is one of the first films to truly pioneer the slasher genre. The film is based on real life serial killer Ed Gien. Norman Bates is the manager of a little motel off the highway, with him and his mother living in a house right above it. Marion Crane, a real estate agent, is sent by her boss to deposit money into the bank; she however steals it and is on the run. She stops at Bates Motel for the night, which is where she meets Norman. They two of them have dinner together and then later that night Marione is murdered in the shower by Norman’s mother, leaving him to clean up the pieces. As a manhunt begins searching for Marione, people begin to be piling up. The question is… is it really Norman’s mother doing the killing or is something more sinister happening?

Review: Psycho is an amazing movie and is truly terrifying! It is more psychological than pure slasher, but this was also during a time where slashers were still very shocking, which is why the movie is in black and white; the blood of the film was too shocking for society. 5/5 stars!
